Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Zik-Rullahi

Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Zik-Rullahi, born on August 1, 1979, in Aiyegunle-Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria, is a distinguished Accountant, Academic, Administrator, and Management Consultant. He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja and earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano. His extensive education includes advanced training and certifications in Leadership, Innovation, and Strategy from prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, and the London Graduate School in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Zik-Rullahi further honed his leadership skills by training in High-Impact Leadership at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, among others. As an educational development strategist, he is committed to revenue mobilization and the advancement of tertiary institutions. His scholarly contributions are reflected in numerous publications in both national and international journals, underscoring his role as a prolific writer and researcher. Additionally, his consultancy work has been instrumental in managing national, regional, and international projects backed by organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
A member of numerous professional associations, Dr. Zik-Rullahi is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria; a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified System Accountants (USA); a Fellow of the Commonwealth Academy of Management and Leadership (UK), and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, among others. His expertise has been crucial in the development of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria, where he has provided training, capacity building, research, project monitoring, and evaluation services.
He has led numerous key initiatives, including serving as the Lead Consultant for the Science Technology Education Post Basic (STEP-B) World Bank-assisted project in Unity Schools across the six states of North-Eastern Nigeria. He also spearheaded research into malnutrition management for internally displaced persons (IDPs) through the Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food Programme in Nigeria. Additionally, Dr. Zik-Rullahi led the team that facilitated the implementation of e-Government for Processes and Procedures in the petroleum sector. His services to the nation includes serving as a Returning Officer for several gubernatorial and presidential elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
With a deep understanding of Africa’s economy and education systems, he has proven expertise in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on various developments, policy issues, and trends in both the public and private sectors. His global network enables him to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the world.
In addition to his role as a senior lecturer at the University of Abuja, where he has taught for nearly two decades, Dr. Zik-Rullahi has served on the boards of several educational and institutional organizations, including being Chairman – Board of Governors of Al-Azhar International College in Lokoja, Kogi State. Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has consistently held leadership roles and positions.
Dr. Zik-Rullahi, fondly known as Dr. Zik, is married with children and enjoys playing chess, golf, lawn tennis, and engaging in charitable activities.
