Born on August 1, 1979, in Aiyegunle-Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Zik-Rullahi is an accountant, academic, administrator, and management consultant. He had both his first and second Degrees in Accounting from the University of Abuja before proceeding to Bayero University, Kano where he obtained his PhD Degree in Accounting. He has also received training and holds certifications in Leadership, Innovation, and Strategy from leading Universities around the globe including Harvard Business School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in the United States of America, as well as London Graduate School in the United Kingdom.

He was also trained in High-Impact Leadership at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership among others. Apart from being an educational development strategist with a passion for revenue mobilisation and development of tertiary institutions, he is a prolific writer and researcher, with numerous publications in both local and international journals to his credit. His resourcefulness has also been experienced through his consultancy services in the management of international, national, and regional projects supported by the World Bank (WB), United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

He belongs to several professional bodies and associations in Nigeria and beyond. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria; a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified System Accountants – in the USA; and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants; among others. He is widely known to have contributed immensely to the growth and development of many Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria through training and capacity building, studies and surveys, research and development, project monitoring, and evaluation among others.

He led the team of consultants that monitored STEP-B (World Bank Assisted) Projects in all Unity Schools in the six states of North-Eastern Nigeria from August 2010 – July 2011. He presided over the team of researchers who conducted Research and Development into Food for Immediate Relief for the IDPs/Malnutrition Management Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food Programme in Nigeria. He also led the team of consultants that assisted in Actualizing and Implementing e-Government for Processes and Procedures in the Petroleum Sector. He is widely known to have contributed immensely to building the capacity of MDAs, particularly in the areas of budgeting, accounting, finance, and procurement. He has served as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer to several Local Governments during Gubernatorial and Presidential Elections among other vital national assignments.

He is adequately knowledgeable in monitoring, evaluating, analyzing and regularly reporting on Country or Project Developments, Policy Issues and other factors that affect both the private and public sector developments, with a good understanding of Nigeria’s economy and education systems and their recent trends. He also has familiarity and the ability to build, attract and maintain relationships with key government and private sector stakeholders across the globe.

Apart from being a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Abuja for about two decades, he has also served on the board of several educational and institutional organizations and trusts including being the Chairman, Board of Governors of Al-Azhar International College, Lokoja, Kogi State. In all his academic pursuits and sojourn through life, he has always been privileged to either be elected or appointed into leadership roles and positions. Dr. Zik who is married with children enjoys playing Chess, Golf, and Lawn Tennis, and engaging in charity work.
